Peroxide blonde mane, perfect make-up and big breasts: Crystal Hefner doesn’t look like that anymore. “I looked like an inflatable sex doll from China. My implants were just props, they felt like I was wearing a costume,” the 37-year-old told the Daily Mail about her time with Playboy. Founder Hugh Hefner.
She wrote down her experiences in the Playboy Mansion in a book that will be published in January next year. “Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself” is the title of the biography. “Only say good things” – Hefner allegedly gave her this command himself for the time after her death. Crystal Hefner, who now lives in Hawaii, finds it difficult to only say good things. In her conversation with the “Daily Mail” she expresses her regret at having taken the path of the Playboy bunny at such a young age.
“All I can say is that when you come from a happy, perfect, loving childhood, you don’t usually end up with someone who was 60 when you were born,” she told the British newspaper. Crystal says she’s sad when she sees old photos with Hugh Hefner.
She was 21 when she met the late Hefner. He was 81. And he had very specific ideas about what his wives should look like. The nails pink and shimmering, the hairline always perfectly bleached. From 6 p.m. Crystal was not allowed to leave the house, according to the “Daily Mail”. She was supposed to eat chicken soup with Hefner and later participate in group sex with his other women.
“It was embarrassing. I don’t know how many people were in our bedroom at one time, but — a lot. Pretty bad. We were like, ‘Oh, now it’s your turn.’ No one really wanted to be there, but I think in Hef’s mind he still thought he was in his 40’s and those nights, the people, the villa cemented that notion. He felt, ‘I still got it going'” , says the former model. To help, her husband is said to have swallowed a lot of Viagra. So much so that apparently his hearing was impaired. “Hef always said he’d rather be deaf and still be able to have sex. Strange,” she says today. In an interview with the “New York Post” a few weeks ago, Hefner said she was dependent. Worse still, “In the relationship with Hef, I was rewarded for being dependent and so many other competing things.”
But she doesn’t want to regret her time in the mansion. “When your family is broken, you feel like you don’t really belong anywhere. You need the kindness of others and you shrink to fit in. You have no power,” Crystal said. Hefner showed her a different future. “Then I met Hef. He lived like the other half lives. You feel, ‘Wow, I might belong here too.’ At first the Playboy Mansion felt like a sanctuary. It wasn’t. But then you hold on either do it or you leave, and I didn’t feel like I had anywhere else to go or make anything of myself,” she says.
When she met Hefner, she had just graduated with a degree in psychology but was putting her career on hold. Almost six years after the death of her husband, she would like to advance this again and do her doctorate. Once she has that, she wants to give up her last name and take her maiden name back. “If I can do that, it’s over,” said the former Playmate.
