Many fans have been waiting for it, now the time has come: The Foo Fighters have announced their new album. The US band’s tenth studio album will be a special one – the first since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins. The difficult time that lies behind singer Dave Grohl and his colleagues is also indicated by the title: “But Here We Are”.
“”But Here We Are’ is a brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything the Foo Fighters have been going through of late and a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family,” the band wrote on the new release Plate. The ten songs would “walk the emotional gamut from anger and sadness to serenity and acceptance and countless points in between”. The album will be released on June 2nd.
Along with the announcement, the Foo Fighters have already presented the first songs from the new record. It is titled “Rescue”. It contains lines that probably also point to Hawkins’ death: “It came in a flash/ It came out of nowhere/ It happened so fast And then it was over.” The band’s last album, Medicine at Midnight, was released in 2021.
Taylor Hawkins was found dead in his Bogota hotel room on March 25, 2022. He was 50 years old. The Foo Fighters were on tour at the time. Traces of antidepressants and drugs were found in his blood. After Hawkins’ death, many fans had already expected the Foo Fighters to disband after 27 years of band history. However, the band members had indicated a few months later that they wanted to release new music again.
The Foo Fighters have also announced a new tour. In Germany, the rock group makes stops at the Rock im Park and Rock am Ring festivals. The band’s everyday life seems to go on – there is only one thing that the Foo Fighters keep a big secret about: who will take over the drummer’s position is still not known.
