So now: Prince William (41) and Princess Kate (42) have published a new portrait photo on social media on the sixth birthday of their youngest son, Prince Louis. Among other things, they posted a snapshot on Instagram that was taken by the amateur photographer Princess Kate herself. In the picture, Louis is beaming from ear to ear as he lies on a blanket in the garden.
There had previously been speculation as to whether Princess Kate and Prince William would forego a new portrait photo on Louis’ sixth day of honor because it was not posted online in the early hours of the morning as usual. The controversy surrounding Kate’s recently published, manipulated family photo or her cancer were cited as possible reasons. Everything is a waste of time: The Royal Family has obviously decided to publish a new portrait. William and Kate simply wrote about the photo: “Happy sixth birthday, Prince Louis! Thank you for all the nice wishes today.”
Last year, the palace shared a photo of Louis Kate pushing her son around Windsor in a wheelbarrow. In previous years there were also photos of her youngest son taken by Kate herself. Louis was last seen at an official Royal Family engagement at Christmas, when he attended a church service at Sandringham with his family.
The British heir to the throne, Prince William, and his cancer-stricken wife Princess Kate are trying to give their children Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis a life as normal as possible during this difficult time, far away from big appearances and flashbulbs. This is also why observers doubted whether there would even be a photo of Louis this year. Louis goes to Lambrook School in Berkshire with his siblings and returned to class after the Easter holidays.
