Prince Christian of Denmark celebrates his 18th birthday in a week, on October 15th. The Danish royal court has announced an official appearance on this occasion.

“On his 18th birthday, His Royal Highness Prince Christian will appear on the balcony of Amalienborg Palace – just like the Prince’s father and grandmother did when they turned 18,” the palace announced on Sunday (October 8) via Instagram. The performance is therefore planned for 12 p.m.

The court also posted a video with archive footage showing Christian’s father, Crown Prince Frederik (55), at the same event in 1986, as well as today’s Queen Margrethe II of Denmark (83) in 1958. The two then 18-year-olds completed the traditional event waving friendly.

The palace gave another indication of something that was coming up on the day before the next heir to the throne came of age three days ago. To mark his upcoming birthday, Prince Christian has “embarked on an educational trip with the aim of learning more about some of the fundamental institutions of Danish society, which are enshrined in the Danish constitution,” the royal family said.

Prince Christian took his father with him on the trip, “which takes their Royal Highnesses through the Danish Parliament, a ministry, the Supreme Court, the Church and the Danish Defense,” the Instagram post continued. Several photos illustrated the trip.

The end of these visits was marked by an appearance on the television program “Prince Christian – a Royal Journey” – there is also a photo of his studio visit in the post. The result can be seen on the digital platforms of the Danish broadcaster DR Byen from the day before Prince Christian’s 18th birthday – from October 14th.
