Following their attention-grabbing exit from British royalty in 2020, the celebrity couple wanted to launch their own brand in America, surnamed ‘Sussex’. Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry did the same for a few years. They released a joint revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey, launched a documentary with Netflix, Prince Harry wrote his memoirs and Meghan produced a podcast with Spotify.
But the podcast production “Archetypes” has brought the couple negative press in recent weeks. After just one season, Spotify scrapped the $20 million project. Hollywood agent Jeremy Zimmer called the Duchess ‘untalented’, Spotify innovation head Bill Simmons went even further, stating on his podcast: ‘I wish I was at the hearing ‘Meghan and Harry are leaving Spotify’ been involved. ‘The sh*t crooks!’ This is the podcast we should have done with them.”
The Sussexes’ image is suffering, and the prince’s memoirs brought little positive and compassionate PR to the couple. On the contrary, the media tenor around the world was: does it have to be?
Meghan now seems to be asking herself this question. Rumors are spreading that she wants to save her reputation in Hollywood and her career by separating professionally from her husband Prince Harry. The Duchess is said to have already signed a deal with well-known talent agency William Morris Endeavor (WME).
A source close to the couple said: “She cannot believe that she was so brutally and so publicly attacked and labeled a ‘crook’ by one of her bosses, it is absolutely humiliating and heartbreaking Rock bottom and a hard reality check that things have to change to save their reputation.”
The new artist agency should believe that Duchess Meghan has a better chance of saving her image if she pursues her further career path solo. There should already be solo offers. Projects that seem realistic for another solo career include relaunching Meghan’s then-blog The Tig, her own memoir, and a career as an influencer. But it also means that Meghan’s future focus does not necessarily have to be the actress, the 41-year-old can also imagine working behind the camera as a producer.
