Tina Knowles (69), mother of superstar Beyoncé (41), was robbed. As the US gossip portal “TMZ” reports, strangers broke into her home in Los Angeles. The alleged loot: cash and jewelry worth over a million US dollars. Tina Knowles is said not to have been home at the time of the crime.

As “tmz.com” reports with reference to police sources, an employee of Tina Knowles noticed the break-in. The perpetrators stole a safe full of money and jewelry – not just the contents, but the whole safe. According to the portal, there is no trace yet.

In April of this year, Tina Knowles experienced a shock. As also “tmz.com” reported, a man threw stones at the mailbox of her house. He was arrested.

Tina Knowles supported her daughter early on in her exceptional career. She designed the costumes for Beyoncé’s breakthrough band Destiny’s Child and did the singers’ hair. She previously owned a successful hair salon in Houston. Until 2011, Tina Knowles was married to Matthew Knowles (71), Beyoncé’s father and manager of Destiny’s Child.

After Tina Knowles made a name for herself on the fashion scene with the costumes for the successful girl band, she took off as a designer. Together with Beyoncé she founded the fashion label House of Deréon. Her own fashion line “Miss Tina by Tina Knowles” followed later. She designed costumes for several films, including “Dreamgirls” starring her daughter.
