The DFB team will start the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand on July 24 with their opening game. In the first group game, the German soccer women meet Morocco in Melbourne. However, anyone who has to work during the day this Monday and wants to watch live must have an accommodating boss.
Due to the time difference, the first match of the DFB women starts in the morning at 10:30 a.m. German time. ZDF will broadcast the start of the team of national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg (55) live on free TV. If you want to take a look online, you can also stream the broadcast free of charge via “sportstudio.de” or the broadcaster’s media library.
Moderator Sven Voss (47) will prepare for the match from 10:00 a.m. with expert Kathrin Lehmann (43) and national player Giulia Gwinn (24), who cannot take part in the tournament due to an injury, and will analyze the first game of the day (Italy versus Argentina). Claudia Neumann (59) then comments on the opening game against Morocco, co-commentator is Tabea Kemme (31).
“We are extremely happy that things are finally starting,” captain Alexandra Popp (32) recently told “dfb.de”. The atmosphere in the team is “very good”. But Popp will obviously go into the first game with the necessary respect: “The group will definitely not be a sure-fire success and it will not be easy. There has been a lot of talk about the fact that we have the simplest group ever. I don’t see it that way. We have to start the tournament very well from the start in order to take a certain flow into the next games.”
In Group H, the German players also meet Colombia and South Korea. The match against Colombia in Sydney can be seen on July 30 from 11:30 a.m. on the first. The DFB women have to play against South Korea on August 3rd from 12:00 noon in Brisbane. ZDF takes over again, showing a total of 25 games in the group phase.
The public broadcasters also alternate in the knockout phase of the tournament. In the round of 16 and semi-finals, ARD has a preselection right to broadcast the games, and Zweite Deutsche Fernsehen in the quarter-finals. The finale will be shown on ZDF on August 20th from 12:00 noon from Sydney.
