In order to help the countless victims of the earthquake catastrophe in Turkey and Syria, the Düsseldorf punk rockers Toten Hosen are putting on a benefit concert in their hometown. As the band has now announced via their official social media channels, the charity gig entitled “Three chords for your donation” has already sold out – in record time.
“It took less than 60 seconds for all 10,500 tickets to be gone! Many thanks to everyone who got a ticket and helped us get this far with the campaign. You guys are amazing!” At a ticket price of 75 euros, the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and Medico International “to support their work in the affected disaster areas” should be able to raise a high six-figure sum.
In addition to the Toten Hosen, Thees Uhlmann (48) and the alternative rock band Donots will be taking part in the concert, which will take place on February 24th in the PSD BANK DOME, free of charge. The city of Düsseldorf is making the hall available for this event free of charge.
The Toten Hosen had also announced the planned benefit concert shortly beforehand via Instagram and Co.: “Horrifying pictures and horrible news have been reaching us from Turkey and Syria for a week now. We are deeply touched by the suffering of the local population and are thinking in particular of our fellow citizens and fellow citizens who fear and mourn for their friends and relatives in the affected areas.” With the performance, they want to send “a small sign of sympathy and solidarity” and help “to alleviate the suffering” as best they can.
