The new scale of the bonus falls at point named for the launch of the BMW X2 xDrive, and, incidentally, for most plug-in hybrids coming on the market today French. In fact, since 1 June last, all models emitting less than 50 g/km of CO2 and costing less than 50 000 euros benefit from a bonus to the purchase of 2,000 euros.

However, the X2 xDrive25e emits only 38 g/km of CO2 on the cycle of registration WLTP while its price starts at 49 000 euros by a finish of base. At this rate, it is a very special version of its X2 that BMW offers to its customers : with a rear motor of 95 hp (70 kW) powered by a lithium-ion battery of 10 kWh, it drives like a rear-wheel drive, zero-emission with 53 miles of range, and this, up to 135 km/h.

For longer trips or if the power demand exceeds that of the battery, the xDrive25e automatically wakes up his 3-cylinder turbo petrol 125 hp to drive its front wheels via an automatic transmission 6-speed, becoming a hybrid 4-wheel-drive 220-horsepower. What go from 0 to 100 km/h in 6,8 seconds, an acceleration worthy of a small GTI.

To take advantage of this level of performance, and especially of the electrical autonomy announced by BMW, it is of course necessary to recharge the battery of the xDrive25e, this can be done in a little over 3 hours on the wallbox optional 5 hours on a household outlet. The other concession, the installation of the chain of electric traction rear encroaches slightly on the boot volume, which goes from 470 to 410 litres. Those for whom this figure would be insufficient, can always turn in the BMW range to the X1 xDrive25 more livable, more roomy, slightly less expensive (46 € 650) and has the same mechanical plug-in hybrid.
