Ed Sheeran is one of the greatest artists of our time. The world star is currently on a big tour to present his new album “Substract”. After appearances in eight European metropolises, including Berlin, the singer is currently touring through North America. You can see him live at more than 20 concerts until the end of September before the tour ends in Inglewood, California.

The 32-year-old is usually accompanied by big acts in the music scene, including “Location” singer Khalid in North America. But he could not appear at a weekend concert in Landover, Maryland, because he is said to have had a car accident shortly before.

As a result, Sheeran spontaneously takes the stage earlier himself – and surprises his fans with a series of extra songs. As “Entertainment Tonight” reports, the singer suddenly took the stage with his guitar, greeted the audience and explained the circumstances. “He’s recovering and we wish him the best,” he told spectators at the 67,000-seat stadium. He also hopes that the surprise for the viewers has been successful – even if it is not what they expected.

Sheeran also poked fun at playing in broad daylight after the 30-minute opening act, which he created using songs from his new album, Substract. He said: “It’s usually pitch black when I play, but now I can finally see everyone. It’s fantastic.” Being a lead act is also a lot of fun for him. He felt that the main act always felt a lot of pressure because people paid a lot of money to see them. The support act, on the other hand, has more ease. “Then you’re more like, ‘Let’s have fun. Let’s play songs,'” Sheeran explained.

Finally, the singer wryly noted that he thought there would be more fireworks after his performance. Before he went on to the main act and brought his band on stage, he said again: “I really hope that Khalid will be better soon and that he can support us in Boston.” The Boston concerts are scheduled to take place on June 30th and July 1st at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.
