Oliver Pocher (44) was awarded 50,000 euros by the Frankfurt Regional Court in the civil lawsuit against Fat Comedy (24), as the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” first reported. Accordingly, it is a monetary compensation in the amount of 45,000 euros and compensation for pain and suffering in the amount of 5,000 euros.
Pocher’s lawyer, Patricia Cronemeyer, had originally demanded twice as much, but told “Bild” that she considered the verdict an absolute success and “from a legal point of view” a “milestone”. On Sunday she told the newspaper: “Physical violence and lasting damage to reputation are neither ‘comedy’ nor a trivial offence.”
At the end of March, Pocher attended a boxing match in Dortmund when Fat Comedy – whom he said he had never seen or spoken to before – hit him in the face without warning. Pocher had to go to the doctor several times because of the attack.
The incident was recorded on video. Fat Comedy had spread the recordings on Instagram and made fun of the action in several videos.
Lawyers for Fat Comedy, who continues to joke about the matter on Instagram, plan to appeal the verdict.
