Stefanie Stahl: Practically everyone who has ever had a committed partnership knows them: crises. We often talk about crises within the partnership – and their solutions: communication problems, different wishes and expectations, sexual dissatisfaction or infidelity, and so on. But there is another type of crisis that can affect our partnership: namely when a partner experiences severe external stress – for example a stroke of fate such as a serious illness, the death of a loved one or an unexpected termination. Even if this stress does not affect us directly, it does have an impact on our own well-being and on the partnership.
