Jerry Bruckheimer (79) is one of the biggest names in Hollywood on the producer side. In the past few decades he has been jointly responsible for numerous blockbusters – including the dance film classic “Flashdance”, the “Top Gun” films and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series. Now Bruckheimer is also said to be interested in a German series. As “Bild am Sonntag” reports, he acquired the rights to the ZDF hit “Yesterday we were still children”.
Natalie Scharf, who wrote the script and was responsible as producer for the German series, explains: “I would never have thought in my life that I would be in the situation of having to choose between various Hollywood producers and US broadcasters. ” However, it has not yet been confirmed whether the series will actually be implemented and appear.
The seven episodes of “Yesterday We Were Kids” were broadcast in three parts in January. An average of 5.60 million people tuned in on television, meaning the market share was 20 percent. The format was even more successful in the ZDF media library. Between late December 2022 and late February 2023, the episodes collectively reached nearly 21 million viewings. “Yesterday we were still kids” became the most-watched series in the station’s media library to date.
“After the successful first season of ‘Yesterday we were still children’, discussions are currently taking place about a possible second season,” ZDF confirmed in February when asked by the news agency spot on news. Lead actress Julia Willecke (24), who became known as a YouTuber under the name Julia Beautx, was more specific beforehand. In a video she explained: “There will be a second season of ‘Yesterday we were kids’. Surprise!”
In addition to Willecke, other roles include Ulrich Tukur (66), Torben Liebrecht (45), Maria Simon (47), Karoline Eichhorn (57) and Damian Hardung (25).
