Vanessa Mai (30) celebrated the comeback of her music project Wolkenfrei on Saturday evening (February 25). “What an unforgettable evening yesterday in the ‘Giovanni Zarrella Show’,” she writes on Instagram on Sunday. The arena was “filled with love” and “your support in front of the TV came through to me on stage,” explains the singer. “Wolkenfrei is back and it feels amazing: We own the world!” Mai also published a series of videos and photos that reviewed her appearance on the ZDF show in the Baden-Arena in Offenburg.
The singer showed on stage that the evening was particularly emotional for her. “I didn’t think I would have to cry,” explained a visibly touched Vanessa Mai after her appearance in conversation with moderator Giovanni Zarrella (44). “But the reception is so incredible.”
Vanessa Mai became known as the frontwoman of the band Wolkenfrei. In 2013 the group released their debut single “Jeans, T-Shirt and Freedom”, followed in 2014 by their debut album “Endlosliebe”. Just one year later, Stefan Kinski and Marc Fischer announced their departure and Mai continued the project on her own. In 2016 she said goodbye to her beginnings and only appeared under her stage name from then on.
Just in time for the tenth anniversary of the Wolkenfrei debut, Mai returns to her roots. The album “Hotel Tropicana” will be released on March 31st and, like the single harbinger “The world belongs to us”, which May presented on the ZDF show, among other things, should radiate “ease and joie de vivre”. According to the announcement, the songs are about “love, freedom and longing, about big dreams and small escapes from everyday life”.
