American singer-songwriter Lizzo will receive the People’s Champion honor at the People’s Choice Awards in December. This was announced by the awardees of the audience prizes.
Lizzo, 34, is being honored for her groundbreaking contributions to music and television, but also for her commitment to diversity, equality and body positivity. It was said that she was a role model and an inspiration for fans worldwide.
Last year, action star Dwayne Johnson (“Jungle Cruise”) received the honorary award for his humanitarian services.
Lizzo, born Melissa Jefferson, released her debut studio album, Cuz I Love You, in 2019. She is also a classically trained flute player, rapper, and host of the TV show “Lizzo’s Watch out for the Big Grrrls,” which features heavyweight women dancers.
The People’s Choice Awards will be presented on December 6th during a live show in Santa Monica, California. Awarded since 1975, contenders and winners in dozens of film, television and music categories are voted solely by fans. Hollywood stars like Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lopez, Dwayne Johnson, Harry Styles, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift are among the nominees this year. Lizzo has four chances to win the competition, including Female Singer and Song of the Year (“About Damn Time”) of the Year.
