Raid on Melanie Müller: In the early hours of the morning, the Leipzig police searched the TV star’s apartment in Leipzig. The search measures in the Wahren district of Leipzig have been running since six o’clock, as a spokeswoman for the public prosecutor’s office confirmed to the star. The “image” had previously reported.

Because of a video that appeared at the end of September, investigations are underway in Leipzig against Müller for using license plates of unconstitutional organizations (Article 86a of the Criminal Code). Paragraph 86a of the Criminal Code has a maximum of three years imprisonment, which is rarely used in practice.

In the video, Müller stands on a stage and sings. She raises her right arm several times, apparently in a Hitler salute, and chants “Ost, Ost, Ostdeutschland” with the crowd. She shows the forbidden gesture a total of eight times. Since then, state security has been investigating Müller.

According to the spokeswoman, the search is about securing evidence. The public prosecutor’s office does not want to provide any information on whether any were found and what exactly one is looking for. You don’t want to say whether Müller was at home in the early hours of the morning either. According to information from the “Bild” newspaper, only Müller’s partner was there. “The dog struck, it woke me up, and then the police officers were already standing in front of me,” the 54-year-old is quoted there as saying. Müller himself is currently performing at Ballermann.

Müller appeared at a concert by the alleged right-wing group “Rowdys Eastside” on September 17th. At the event, neo-Nazis yelled “Sieg Heil” and stretched their right arms. When videos of it appeared, Müller distanced himself from it and claimed to have stopped his performance as soon as he noticed the behavior. A little later, the video appeared, which apparently showed her giving the Hitler salute. Müller’s explanation: “I’ve been on stage for eleven years and always make these hand movements. Not from a right-wing extremist background but zig-zag-zig-zag, exactly the way I do it there.”
