Cake, fireworks and congratulations on the red carpet: Hollywood star Tom Cruise (61) celebrated his 61st birthday at the premiere of his new film “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” in Sydney. According to media reports, the birthday boy insisted on coming to the premiere two hours earlier to chat with the waiting fans and take photos. Numerous posters with birthday wishes lined the red carpet.
But that’s not all: After walking down the red carpet, director Christopher McQuarrie (54) surprised his leading actor with a cake for his birthday – “Mission Impossible” co-star Simon Pegg (53) brought the cake with the film title onto a trolley the stage. The film crew then watched the planned fireworks display over Darling Harbor in honor of the new “Mission Impossible” film.
On Twitter, Tom Cruise expressly thanked his fans for the congratulations and for being present at the premiere: “It was great to spend my birthday with fans today. Thank you for coming to the premiere!” He also posted a selection of pictures from the birthday evening.
