On April 1, 2023, the jury and the audience will again ask themselves: Which celebrities are behind the elaborate costumes on “The Masked Singer” (from 8:15 p.m. on ProSieben)? Then the eighth season of the popular guessing show will start. The broadcaster has now unveiled the first mask that will go into this year’s race for the title: the seahorse will compete. It came ashore especially to shine with its voice on the big stage, according to the corresponding post on Instagram.
Who could it be? ProSieben gives a first hint: “The outfit fits, but under this mask there is not only a fashion icon, but also a real superstar!” However, the makers have not yet revealed whether it is a woman or a man. 600 hours of work went into the seahorse costume. The costume master Alexandra Brandner on her creation: “The mask of the seahorse is worn on the shoulders instead of on the head as usual.” This relieves the masked star and provides more freedom of movement.
A special eye-catcher are the many details of the costume. The scales were sprayed with fluorescent paint, which would result in the effect of glowing and shimmering in all colors of the rainbow, according to the broadcaster. In addition, the seahorse shines in the dark as if it were floating across the stage.
In 2023, the guessing team once again consists of moderator Ruth Moschner (46) and singer Rea Garvey (49), who are supported weekly by another, changing star in the puzzles. “The Masked Singer” is again moderated by Matthias Opdenhövel (52), who has been loyal to the show since season one. The previous winners of the previous seven seasons were, in chronological order: Max Mutzke, Tom Beck, Sarah Lombardi, Sasha, Alexander Klaws, Ella Endlich and Daniel Donskoy. Yvonne Catterfeld won in a Christmas special in December 2021.
