A new quiz show is starting on RTL: In “The Great GEO Show – In 55 Questions Around the World” stars embark on a special journey. The new format will flicker across screens for the first time on Saturday, May 20 from 8:15 p.m. The week after, on May 27th, another issue will follow at prime time. Sonja Zietlow (54) moderates the show, supported by science journalist Dirk Steffens (55).

The principle of the show: Five stars each devote themselves to a project in different countries on different continents in order to learn more about the world. They tackle the matter with many unanswered questions. The celebrities have unique experiences and learn a lot about nature, animals and other people. As an expert of a continent, they then stand in the studio and have to assert themselves in quiz rounds.

Whoever can answer the most questions correctly at the end faces the GEO expert Dirk Steffens in the final. The winner can look forward to prize money for one of the special projects. In addition, the winner gets a forest “which is allowed to run wild as part of the ‘GEO creates wilderness’ association,” the broadcaster announced. The show is intended to bring the audience closer to “foreign cultures, fascinating animal worlds and the breathtaking nature of the earth” and at the same time create “an awareness of climate and species protection”.

The stars for the first two shows are already set. On May 20, presenter Frank Buschmann (58, Norway), model Elena Carrière (26, Japan), rapper Sabrina Setlur (49, South Africa), ex-handball player Pascal Hens (43, Australia) and circus artist René Casselly (26 , Ecuador) against each other. On May 27, it’s comedian Osan Yaran (37, Romania), ex-biathlete Evi Dingebacher-Stehle (42, Indonesia), actor Armin Rohde (68, South Africa), former cyclist Kristina Vogel (32, Australia) and actress Lisa Feller (46, St Maarten). It is not yet clear whether further editions are planned for this year.

Dirk Steffens is one of the best-known science journalists in Germany. The formats “Terra X” and “Fascination Earth” contributed to its success. His work also brought him numerous prizes, such as the Golden Camera or the German Television Prize. In the spring of 2022 it was announced that he was moving from ZDF to RTL. With “The Great GEO Show – In 55 Questions Around the World” is now starting its first major format for the private broadcaster.
