While Keanu Reeves (58) is currently shaking up the cinemas in “John Wick: Chapter 4”, the next project from the world of his eponymous contract killer is already in the starting blocks. Peacock has released a first teaser trailer for the prequel The Continental: From the World of John Wick. In it, the US streaming provider announces that the three-part mini-series will be available from September 2023.
In the series, the history of the contract killer hotel known from the film series is told. Unfortunately, Keanu Reeves is unlikely to be in the production. Mel Gibson (67), the biggest known star of the miniseries, does not appear in the clip either.
“The Continental” shows the history of the movies from the point of view of hotel manager Winston Scott, played by Colin Woodell (31), in 1970s New York. In addition to him and Gibson, Ayomide Adegun, Ben Robson and Kate Nhung, among others, take on roles. In Germany, the mini-series will also be shown on Amazon Prime Video in 2023, as announced last year.
Even if Reeves isn’t expected to show up, the teaser trailer hints that it’s likely to be no less action-packed than the movies. Either way, numerous fans should be looking forward to “The Continental”. According to Leonine Studios, “John Wick: Chapter 4” had the most successful theatrical release of the current year in Germany at the end of March with more than 465,000 cinemagoers.
