Taylor Swift’s music can be heard again on Tiktok – despite a dispute between the short video platform and the music company Universal Music. Swift is signed to Universal but has the rights to her songs. Their tracks disappeared from Tiktok along with music from other Universal Music artists after the two companies failed to agree on a new agreement in January.
Universal Music argued at the time that TikTok offered musicians and songwriters only a “fraction” of the remuneration usual on other similar online platforms. TikTok countered that Universal had “put their own greed above the interests of their artists and songwriters.”
Tiktok has become an important platform for the music industry in recent years because many users discover new songs there.
Swift is releasing her next album “The Tortured Poets Department” next week (April 19th). The return of some of their songs had been prepared for some time, wrote the Financial Times, citing informed people.
