In June of this year, Rebel Wilson surprised her fans with an Instagram post. “I thought I was looking for a Disney prince… but maybe what I needed all along was a Disney princess,” she captioned a photo she shared with friend Ramona Agruma .

With this, Wilson not only made her new relationship public, but also that she is not just into men.

However, the first woman she ever kissed wasn’t Agruma, as Wilson revealed in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. It was Charlotte Gainsbourg, her co-star in her new movie The Almond and the Seahorse. “I had been in a situation with a woman before, but not a sexual relationship, and we hadn’t kissed or anything,” recalled the Australian in the interview.

In the end, the role apparently changed her life. Because: “After kissing her professionally, I thought maybe I should do it privately and see how it goes, and I did that. That was in 2021, and at the end of 2021 I met Ramona,” reveals Wilson, which is otherwise known more in comedy roles. In “The Almond and the Seahorse,” Wilson plays an archaeologist who finds her way back to life after a serious injury and becomes involved with a woman (Gainsbourg).

“If I hadn’t had the experience with Charlotte or the experience with the other woman, I don’t know if I would have ever met Ramona. Those experiences opened my heart to this possibility,” Wilson explains.

And apparently the effect of a role on the private lives of movie stars is not uncommon. “I have another actress friend who had to kiss a woman on a show and then became a lesbian for a while,” Wilson reveals. “And the same thing happened to another actress that I know here in America. There are even a few that I know of. I hadn’t thought of that before because I’ve only dated men.”

That Wilson even went public with their relationship in June was not her own decision. “A journalist in Australia sent an email threatening to publish the story,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. Finally, the 42-year-old decided to take a stand on her private life.
