In addition to Oscar winner Jared Leto (51), other actors have come on board for the planned sequel to the science fiction cult films “Tron” and “Tron: Legacy”. British model Jodie Turner-Smith (36, “White Noise”) and US colleagues Greta Lee (40, “Past Lives”) and Evan Peters (36, “Dahmer – Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer”) play in “Tron: Ares” with, as reported by the industry journal “Hollywood Reporter”. Director Joachim Rønning (“Pirates of the Caribbean – Salazar’s Revenge”, “Maleficent 2”) linked the article on Instagram. The Norwegian wants to start filming in Vancouver, Canada in August, it was said.
In the original groundbreaking 1982 film “Tron,” Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner played programmers in a cyber world long before the digital age. The duo starred in the 2010 sequel Tron: Legacy, alongside Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde, directed by Joseph Kosinski.
Leto, who has long been known as the main actor for the planned third part, also wants to be involved as a producer. He won an Oscar for his supporting role in the 2014 AIDS drama Dallas Buyers Club. Most recently he acted in films like “Zack Snyder’s Justice League”, “House of Gucci” or “Morbius”.
