The epic, long trailer for “Dune: Part 2” has been released – and brings a reunion with cult actor Christopher Walken (80). The Oscar winner has not been seen on the big screen since 2020. In the sequel to the hit film “Dune” (2021), Walken plays Emperor Shaddam IV, none other than the ruler of the known universe. The new trailer shows the star in his role for the first time.

Director Denis Villeneuve (55) prepares viewers and “Dune” fans for the return to the desert planet Arrakis with majestic desert images. Starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Rebecca Ferguson, who already starred in part one, are newcomers Walken, Florence Pugh, Léa Seydoux and Austin Butler. Butler, who was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of Elvis Presley (1935-1977), cannot be recognized at first glance in the preview video without his striking head of hair. As Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, he duels with the main character Paul Atreides, embodied by Chalamet.

Director Denis Villeneuve is planning a third part if “Dune: Part 2” is successful. This could adapt Frank Herbert’s (1920-1986) novel “Dune Messiah” published in 1969. A spin-off series called “Dune: The Sisterhood” is also in development on the Max streaming service. She is supposed to expand the “Dune” universe. “Dune” from 2021 had been awarded a total of six Oscars. The sequel is scheduled to be released in German cinemas on November 2nd.
