Paolo Liuzzo, Princess Beatrice’s ex-boyfriend, has died. This is reported by “The Independent”, among others. The Miami Police Department confirmed to the British newspaper last Wednesday that Liuzzo had died in early February.
Officers were called to his hotel room at the citizenM Miami Worldcenter Hotel at 3:22 p.m. on February 7, and the time of death was given as 3:34 p.m. Police investigations continue to this day, but the case is being investigated as a suspected drug overdose, police said. According to The Sun, Liuzzo, son of an Italian plastics tycoon, most recently lived in an apartment building near the hotel and worked as an art consultant. He is said to have been 41 years old. His body was said to have been flown to his home of Long Island, New York, for burial in mid-February.
In 2006, his relationship with Princess Beatrice, which had been going on for a year, became known when he was invited by her parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson to a family holiday in the Swiss ski resort of Verbier.
However, the couple reportedly parted ways after a year after it was revealed that Liuzzo had to return to the US because he was said to have violated probation. He was charged with manslaughter against a fellow student in Massachusetts and convicted of assault in 2002. He did 100 hours of community service and was actually only allowed to travel abroad for work purposes.
Princess Beatrice has been married to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi since 2020. Daughter Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi was born on September 18, 2021 in London.
