Strong fashion statement from Queen Máxima (51): together with her husband, King Willem-Alexander (55), she welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron (45) and his wife Brigitte (69) for a state banquet in the royal palace. For the festive evening she had chosen a bright red dress with large puffed sleeves and open shoulders.

The robe comes from the Danish designer Claes Iversen (45), as his label announced on the Instagram page. Queen Máxima has often worn his eye-catching designs.

The mother-of-three paired the large gown with a beaded butterfly-shaped brooch, a red satin clutch by Maison Valentino and a tiara.

The French presidential couple is in the Netherlands for two days, visiting Amsterdam and The Hague. It is the first state visit by a French president in 23 years. On the second day of the visit, Dutch-French government consultations are on the agenda on Wednesday.
