On Wednesday, people in central London sat up as the bells of the ancient and famous Westminster Abbey chimed. In honor of Prince William’s 41st birthday, the bells rang for over two minutes. The bell concert was then published on Twitter with the best wishes for the birthday child: “We wish His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, a happy birthday today!” Wrote the official account of Westminster Abbey.
An extraordinary birthday present, even for a royal. But after more than four decades, Prince William can apparently look back on several special gifts that were anything but normal. Former royal chef Darren McGrady told Hello! a funny anecdote from Prince William’s teenage years. The deceased mother of the heir to the throne, Princess Diana, is said to have often joked until her death in 1997. This also applies to Williams’ 13th birthday.
McGrady told the magazine about an unusual experience upon arriving at work that day, the royal kitchen. When he opened the fridge, as he did every day, he found a strange cake: “I came to work that morning, went to the fridge, opened the door and was confronted with the biggest breasts I had ever seen in my life”, like the cook. William is said to have turned bright red when handed over. Apparently, according to the chef, Diana loved to crack a dirty joke or two.
When Prince William turned 30, the Queen gave him the usufruct of a cottage in Sandringham, which is said to be worth around 900,000 euros. However, ownership remains in the hands of the English crown. The house is now the second home of the Windsor family of five. Also for his 30th birthday, Princess Kate gave her husband a £25,000 portrait.
For his 32nd birthday, Prince William is said to have received nothing less than a helicopter costing almost 14 million pounds. His grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, was behind this generous gesture. The helicopter, called “Heirforce One”, was intended to enable the new parents to get from appointment to appointment and home to their little Prince George faster.
The Queen’s 40th birthday present was her last before she passed away in September 2022. According to the online portal “Express”, Prince William and Kate were given permission to throw a big party in a royal residence.
