As a child, Roman Gottschalk faced the popularity of his famous father in everyday life. “So there we were in the city, he picked me up from school. And then of course everyone came to him. Everyone wanted something from him. An autograph, a short conversation,” said the 40-year-old son of showmaster legend Thomas Gottschalk (73) the newspapers of the Funke media group.
His father complied with these requests. “My father is the kind of person who always wanted to be accessible. People knew him from television. And that’s just how he wanted to be in reality. But I only understood that later.”
Roman Gottschalk lives in California and has recently appeared as a presenter and reporter on the YouTube show “Golf mit Gottschalk”. In the first episode he appeared together with his father. “I think it’s good that my father sees that I’m doing something too. That something has become of me,” said Roman Gottschalk.
