Christine Baumgartner tearfully argued in a Los Angeles court that she needed more money from her estranged husband, actor Kevin Costner. The former designer wanted $175,057 a month in child support from Costner. To date, she has been making $129,000 a month. Originally, Costner had argued that he only wanted to pay $60,000 to the mother of his children.
Now the actor was right. According to “TMZ” he does not have to transfer Baumgartner $175,057, nor the original amount of $129,000. Instead, he was ordered to pay $63,209 a month in child support. A far smaller sum than Baumgartner had demanded. For the mother, the result should be a disappointment.
She had asked for more because the luxurious lifestyle was “in the DNA” of the three children together “at this point,” argued lawyer John Rydell in the interests of his client. According to “People”, in the courtroom, Christine Baumgartner leafed through evidence photos, impressions of the family’s daily life, and sobbed. “It’s so much more than this — it’s an experience,” she said. Her three children are “very connected to the sea – it’s their home,” she said.
“Christine is making this application to uphold these principles of family law and to ensure that the parties’ three minor children continue to enjoy the lifestyle made possible by Kevin’s substantial income and wealth,” a statement said court documents. The fact that Costner is solvent is clear to the other side. His “various accounts and entities as of June 30, 2023 [hold] a total of $17,293,117 in cash equivalents, providing him with ample funds to pay his alimony and also to pay attorneys’ fees and costs for both parties.”
From now on, Baumgartner has to try to support the luxury lifestyle with 63,209 dollars a month.
