There are two snapshots from the filming of “Aquaman 2” with which Amber Heard reports back on Instagram: “Thanks to all my fans for the overwhelming support and love for Mera’s Aquaman return. Thank you very much,” the actress writes about photos that show her in the role of Mera with red hair, one of which also shows her daughter Oonagh Paige as a baby. In the stories, Heard also shared short clips from the training sessions for the fight scenes in the action film.
But the pictures and videos are not new, but come from 2021. And therefore from a time before the sensational court case in which her ex-husband Johnny Depp sued her for millions of dollars for defamation. The 2022 spectacle, which was broadcast live, lasted six weeks and ugly details from the two’s broken marriage and serious accusations came to light. In the end, Heard lost and paid Depp compensation, but was also awarded compensation.
The public had long since sided with Hollywood star Depp, whose fans shared every little snippet of the proceedings on social networks and raised the mood against Heard. The 37-year-old received death threats and countless hate comments; media observers called the trial the first trial that was decided on TikTok.
And while Johnny Depp has long since been allowed to advertise perfume on international billboards or direct, Heard involuntarily withdrew. The actress emigrated to Spain with her almost three-year-old daughter, first living in Mallorca and now in Madrid. The “Aquaman” post is Heard’s first sign on Instagram in over six months.
At that time she took part in a film festival for the first time and was promoting the indie film “In the Fire” in Italy – which she had also shot before the trial. New job announcements, for example on the industry service “imdb”? None. It appears this was her last project to date, although she recently assured a paparazzo in Spain that she had film projects planned and that life goes on. At the film festival in Italy, she was also optimistic: “What I experienced and went through has nothing to do with my career. And it certainly won’t stop my career,” she said in an interview with “Deadline.com.”
It remains to be seen whether she is right. Heard testified in court in Virginia that her role in “Aquaman” was cut, presumably because of negative press. A spokeswoman for the production denied this, but the fact is that Heard’s role as Mera only appears for about 15 to 20 minutes in the extra-long blockbuster.
