Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field will celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary this year. And the recipe for success in their marriage these days is by no means based on the physical attraction they feel. Both explained this to the English newspaper “The Sun”.
After Ayda Field said on a podcast last year that her sex life was “dead,” the couple explain what the statement meant. “No sex in a marriage is only an issue if you disagree. If one wants it and the other doesn’t, if you have different expectations or needs,” says Williams. “But actually everyone knows that there is no more sex in marriage. That’s the way it is,” he explains.
It was different when he took testosterone for a while for fitness reasons. The funds would have had a major impact on the intimate life of the couple. “The sex we had when I was on testosterone was amazing (…). We were insatiable. It shows how much we like each other because when I was on testosterone we couldn’t keep our hands off each other.” , reveals the musician.
But due to his own history of addiction, he had to stop doing it. It was too dangerous that he became dependent on testosterone. Also, Williams “got these massive square shoulders and started looking like a porter,” he admits.
For Williams and Field, however, it’s okay that their intimate lives have died down a bit over the years. “Now sometimes Ayda turns to me on the sofa and says, ‘We should have sex,’ and I’ll sit there and eat a tangerine and just shrug. So, you know, sometimes we try,” he said Singer. An amazing statement for Williams, who has made headlines with his relationship stories during his wild days.
Field explains that there’s more to both of them than the physical act. “I think people confuse sex with intimacy. We’re constantly cuddling and kissing, holding hands and touching if we’re just sitting on the sofa watching TV or a movie or whatever,” she says in The Sun. “Intimacy is the important, meaningful side of love,” she explains.
Williams and Field married in August 2010. The couple now have four children together.
