Mourning for one of the last well-known actresses of the post-war period: Maria Sebaldt died near Munich at the age of 92, reports the “Bild” newspaper. She had last lived in a retirement home.

Sebaldt started her acting career in the late 1940s and appeared in front of the camera for the first time in 1953. She acted alongside Heinz Rühmann, Liselotte Pulver and Heinz Erhardt, in comedies, westerns and literary adaptations. Her most famous films include “The Gypsy Baron” (1954), “The Captain of Köpenick” (1956) and “Nick Knatterton’s Adventures” (1958).

In 1965 she met her husband, actor Robert Freitag (1916-2010), and they had a daughter.

In the 80s she started again, playing her way into the hearts of the viewers with the TV series “The Wicherts from Next Door” and “I Marry a Family”. There were also guest roles in TV series such as “Tatort”, “Traumschiff”, “Derrick” and “Der Alte”. In 2014, at the age of 83, she was in front of the camera for the “Dream Ship”.

Now she passed away peacefully three weeks before her 93rd birthday.
