Former British football star David Beckham (48) and his wife, fashion designer Victoria (49), have told of their first meeting at a football match. “I really just went to the games to – some would say to stalk him, I would say to see him,” Victoria says in a clip from the new Netflix documentary “Beckham.”

“When I saw him in the footballers’ lounge, all the other footballers were at the bar, but he was standing there talking to his parents. And I’m very close to my family and I love that side of him.” The former Spice Girl and the former Manchester United star celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary in July and have four children together.

David says in the video: “When I first spoke to her I just thought she was great.” Three years ago he told US presenter Jimmy Fallon that there had been no conversation during Victoria’s first visit to the footballers’ lounge. “But the following week she came back to Manchester to watch another game.”

They then talked for about an hour and she wrote him her number on a train ticket, he said, “which I still have.” The four-part documentary “Beckham” about the couple can be seen on Netflix from October 4th.
