Former rugby star Mike Tindall, 44, has revealed which senior royal he asked to be on ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ – the English version of the jungle camp – should take part.

In the latest episode of his podcast The Good, the Bad and the Rugby, the husband of Queen’s granddaughter Zara Tindall, 41, answered questions from listeners, including whether he needed permission from the royal family to to appear on the show. Tindall said he didn’t need to seek permission but asked a senior member of the royal family as a courtesy. “You don’t want to upset anyone,” Tindall said. “I spoke to the Prince of Wales [Prince William, ed.] about this and he said, ‘That’s great, go and have fun'”.

He added that he has not received any instructions on what he can and cannot say about the royal family on the show. However, he admitted that he intentionally kept certain “talks” about the royal family short so they couldn’t be broadcast. Still, the royal was able to reveal some fun stories, including the fact that he had a “drunk” first date with his wife, which in turn marked a “great start” for their relationship.

He also shared a funny moment when he ripped his pants in front of his royal mother-in-law Princess Anne, 72, at his 30th birthday party. “I was dancing on the dance floor. I was wearing bell bottoms, a full outfit but it was pretty tight,” Tindall said during his appearance on the reality competition, adding, “Nothing ever suits a rugby player’s butt and legs. ” When he then danced with his mother-in-law, he crouched down as low as possible and jumped up again. That’s when it happened: “I ripped my pants right in front of her,” Mike continued. “Coincidentally, the boxer shorts I was wearing at the time said ‘gnaw my nuts.’ When I turned around, she said, ‘I’d rather not.'”

The royal finished “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” on fourth place.
