“New Girl” actress Zooey Deschanel (43) and “Property Brothers” presenter Jonathan Scott (45) have become engaged after four years of dating. He proposed to her on a family trip to Scotland, as reported by “People”.
The couple announced the news on Instagram on Monday (August 14). “Forever begins now!!!” the stars captioned a selfie they took after proposing. The actress holds up her hand to show off her engagement ring. It contains three colorful stones in a flower pattern.
Scotland has a very special meaning for the groom-to-be because his father is from there. At his twin brother Drew’s wedding in 2018, both men wore kilts to the ceremony. Deschanel’s daughter Elsie (8) and son Charlie (6) are said to have been present at the application and even played “a special role” according to “People”.
The couple met in August 2019 while filming an episode of James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” with their siblings. The following month, they were first spotted holding hands. Just a week earlier, the actress announced that she had separated from film producer Jacob Pechenik (51) after four years of marriage, with whom she has two children. She was previously married to singer Ben Gibbard (47) from 2009 to 2012. It won’t be Scott’s first marriage either. He was married to flight coordinator Kelsy Ully (born 1988) from 2007 to 2019.
