“This should have been settled earlier, so we would not be in a situation where the fate will rise and fall on France.”
Mie Højlund does not hide that she is a little frustrated. Not over the WORLD cup-it was there waiting.
I am she. But it irks her that Denmark has put itself in a situation where only a victory over the reigning european champions can be used.
“It would simply be so disappointing not to go further. We have trained so hard for this here tournament. The frustration is just in, we feel some of the matches have been decided by ourselves. It is not because we have met better opponents. We have made too many mistakes and burned too many shots. You feel you could have done it better,” says Mie Højlund.
Denmark has won the matches against Australia and Brazil. In addition, the national team’s tie against south Korea and lost to Germany, and particularly the last fight bothered.
Both of Mie Højlund but also with landsholdskollegaerne.
France is a good team, and it’s not really here, the battle has been lost, if it should not go Denmark’s way Friday afternoon, assessing the players.
“I think the fight against Germany has been piss annoying,” sounds it honestly from Sarah Iversen with reference to the defeat of just a goal.
A defeat that came after the danes had played a match with too many errors.
“There is not really anything to do about it now. You just have to say that it was fucking too bad, and now we have put all the pressure on ourselves once again. It is something we are accustomed to stand in,” says landsholdsprofilen.
Denmark got the victory over Brazil on Wednesday eliminated the south americans in relation to mellemrunden. South korea and Germany are on, while Denmark and France will be fighting for the last seat. And it is very simple. The winner takes it all. The loser will drop out of the japanese dark.
“I think, it is røvirriterende and it is super annoying for the entire tournament, that we are four so good teams end up having to throw each other out. We were smoked in some of the other pools, all the four teams most likely passed on. It is just a lortepulje, we come in,” says Sarah Iversen.
the Frustration is also in Trine Østergaard. Both from the fight against Germany, but also over Denmark from the start ended up in a difficult pool and now just missing the ill-fated bang against France.
“It had been okay if we had been further along in the tournament. When you look at some of the other pools right now, I’m a little frustrated, we stand and already so early in the tournament must play so crucial a match against France. It had been more fair in a mellemrunde. It’s just the way the game is, and we know this in advance. So it’s about knokle,” she stresses.
And knokle comes to the team. It turns out they are all real. The consequences of a defeat is not just a VM-exit. It also means goodbye to the OLYMPICS in 2020. The idea that it would slip, and Denmark will have to use the next days to play the President’s Cup instead of mellemrunde is certainly not one that is rar for Sarah Iversen.
“It’s hard to put into words. It would be terrible. So I think there will be gravkammerstemning. It should not happen. It’s not going to happen.. There is no team that is more fun to beat than France. It would be a big carrot.” she says.
