At the end of 2023, Rockstar Games announced that the latest title in the extremely popular “Grand Theft Auto” series would be released in 2025. There is still no exact date, but Rockstar Games parent Take-Two Interactive Software has now at least announced a narrower time window for the release. A current financial report states that “GTA VI” is scheduled to appear in fall 2025.
As expected, Take-Two Interactive is already expecting great business from the publication of the title, which has been eagerly awaited by numerous gamers. “We are very confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the title’s commercial impact continue to grow,” said a press release.
The first trailer last December showed how great the interest in “Grand Theft Auto VI” is. The clip, which is around one and a half minutes short, set three records in the first 24 hours after publication. According to Guinness World Records, the video was the most-watched reveal of a video game in the first day (around 90.4 million views at the 24-hour mark) and the most-watched YouTube video in 24 hours, excluding music videos, ever. Within the first day, the clip also collected around 8.9 million likes and became the most-liked video game trailer on the video platform.
“‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ continues our commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world gaming experiences,” said Sam Houser, 52, co-founder of Rockstar Games, in a press release first trailer. “We are excited to share this new vision with players around the world.” The game will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
