Supermodel Gigi Hadid (28) was arrested in the Cayman Islands with marijuana in his luggage. According to local website Cayman Marl Road, Hadid landed in a private jet on July 10 with girlfriend Leah Nicole McCarthy on the island of Grand Cayman. Customs and border control then examined the luggage of the two travelers at Owen Roberts International Airport. Both the intoxicating drug itself and utensils for consuming it were seized.
Hadid and McCarthy were then arrested on suspicion of importing marijuana. However, they were later released on bail. At a court hearing two days later, they reportedly pleaded guilty and each paid a $1,000 fine.
“Gigi was traveling with marijuana that she obtained legally in New York City with a medical license,” a rep for the model told E! News. Medical marijuana has also been legal on the island of Grand Cayman since 2017. There was no entry in the model’s certificate of good conduct. “She enjoyed the rest of her time on the island,” the rep continued.
In fact, Hadid and her travel companion McCarthy shared numerous snapshots of their summer vacation on the Caribbean island on social networks. For example, Hadid surprised her fans and followers with a picture of a huge dragon tattoo on her hip. However, the body paint is meant to be temporary and not permanent.
