Actor Fritz Wepper (82) and his wife Susanne Kellermann (49) have written a book together. “I am only human with a dog” will be published by Goldegg-Verlag on October 17th. However, there is more to this work than just a declaration of love for the four-legged friends who have accompanied him throughout his life. “This book will be his very last project. Fritz said that very clearly. His legacy. It is what he wants to leave behind,” she says in a double interview with “Bild am Sonntag”.

But that apparently also means that the popular former “For Heaven’s Sake” star will no longer be in front of a TV camera. “I’ve finished that,” confirms Fritz Wepper, saying goodbye to his job in the conversation.

The actor hasn’t finished with his beloved dogs. After the death of his favorite Aron in May 2021, no new dog came into the family. And there’s a good reason for that: “At the moment it’s important that I can walk properly again without crutches, but I hope that I’ll be back on my feet soon,” says Wepper confidently. His wife, who came out as a cat person in the interview anyway, probably feels the same way.

Fritz Wepper has had difficult times. His last dog had to be put down when he was battling cancer in the hospital. At the beginning of 2021 he had to undergo tumor surgery, followed by five months in intensive care. In the summer he went to a rehabilitation clinic on Lake Tegernsee near Munich. In June 2022, the Munich resident talked about his return to his family after 15 months in the clinic and rehab. “I had to reorient myself briefly and immediately felt right at home with my loved ones again,” he explains in an interview with the tabloid.

Fritz Wepper and Susanne Kellermann have been married since 2020, but have been together on/off for much longer. The two have a daughter together, who was born in 2011. His daughter Sophie Wepper (41) comes from his first marriage (1979-2019) to Angela von Morgen (1942-2019).
