Superheroes, sci-fi, horror and action set the tone at the “Critics Choice Super Awards”. This year, films such as “Poor Things,” “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning” and “Godzilla Minus One” are among the winners, the awards ceremony in Los Angeles announced. The renowned critics association Critics Choice Association (CCA) has presented these awards for the fourth time.
Tom Cruise and Rebecca Ferguson took home the best action actor trophies for “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning.” With their roles in the sci-fi comedy “Poor Things,” Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo won the science fiction/fantasy movie acting category. “Talk to Me” won Best Horror Film and Sophie Wilde won Best Actress in a Horror Film. Nicolas Cage was named best actor in this genre for “Dream Scenario.”
Other winners included “John Wick: Chapter 4” (Best Action Film), “Godzilla Minus One” (Best Science Fiction/Fantasy Film), “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” (Best Superhero Film) and Michael Fassbender in “The Killer” (Best Actor in a Superhero Film).
“The Last of Us” wins
In the television category, “The Last of Us” won seven trophies, including best superhero series and for the actors Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey and Melanie Lynskey. “Reacher” won best action series, Idris Elba won best actor in an action series (“Hijack”) and Zoe Saldaña won for actress in the action series “Special Ops: Lioness.”
