Cher (77) had no interest in dating Elvis Presley (1935-1977). During an appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” on Wednesday (May 1), the singer revealed that she once turned down an invitation to meet the King of Rock and Roll because she was afraid of his bad reputation. “I knew about the people around him, and it wasn’t that they were bad people, it was just that I was kind of nervous about his reputation,” the singer explained.
She is also generally shy when dealing with men outside of work. “The reason I date young men is because men my age or older – well, they’re all dead now – but before, they were just always afraid to approach me, and younger men were the only ones did it,” she reported. The “Believe” interpreter is currently with music manager Alexander “A.E.”, who is 40 years her junior. Edwards (38) is in a relationship.
In a December 2022 interview, Cher said on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that Presley invited her to a weekend in Las Vegas. “I was so scared that I couldn’t do it. He was on the decline… And I don’t mean outwardly… He was on the decline with the drugs and stuff,” she said, explaining her rejection. She doesn’t want to get involved with a musician who takes drugs.
Despite his antics, she was always a big fan of the legendary musician. “When I was 10 years old, my mother took me to the Pan Pacific to see Elvis. I really loved him,” she emphasized.
In the last years of his life, Elvis Presley slipped further into drug addiction and swallowed huge amounts of pills. This ruined himself mentally and physically. With fatal consequences: the exceptional artist died in 1977 at the age of just 42. Reports suggest that he succumbed to a drug overdose.
