If Elton John (76) is really serious about his announced final stage farewell, his performance at the legendary Glastonbury Festival will also be the last concert of his life on British soil.
As the singer previously revealed to the BBC, the preparations for this particular show fill him with some nervousness. He also announced that he would like to delight the audience with a few very special highlights at the performance. “I have a different setlist from the tour, it’s going to be very different,” he revealed. “I have guests and I can’t tell you who they are, but it’s going to be wonderful. I’m really looking forward to it.”
With the concert date approaching, the first details about the planned highlights of his appearance as festival headliner on Sunday evening (June 25) are leaking out. As the British “Sun” has officially confirmed, Elton John will bring his cinematic double Taron Egerton (33) to the stage as one of four special guests and perform at least one song with him. Egerton embodied Elton John in the 2019 biopic “Rocketman” and should therefore still be able to do many of his song lyrics well.
The source, unnamed by The Sun, said: “Elton will be giving the performance of his life in Glastonbury and has prepared some surprises for his fans at Worthy Farm. Taron will sing alongside Elton, who he met during filming made friends.”
Even though the eccentric singer’s first guest on stage has now been decided, the guesswork continues about the other three special guests. In previous forecasts, the British-Albanian singer Dua Lipa (27), with whom Elton John recorded the duet “Cold Heart” in 2021, was at the top of the list. According to The Sun, however, the singer will not be in Glastonbury.
