According to the current status, the eagerly awaited sequel to “Dune” is scheduled to start in German cinemas in November 2023. Superstar Timothée Chalamet (26), who embodies the main character Paul Atreides in the novel adaptation, has now announced the end of filming for “Dune: Part 2” on Instagram. Chalamet shared a selfie of himself and his dad Marc Chalamet in front of sand dunes, with the caption, “‘Dune 2’ filming wrapped (with desert dad!!)”.
Director Denis Villeneuve (55) divided Frank Herbert’s (1920-1986) original novel, which was considered unfilmable for many years, into two films. “Dune” was released in cinemas in 2021 and was so successful financially that the Warner Bros. film studio commissioned a second part. The stars Florence Pugh (26), Austin Butler (“Elvis”, 31), Christopher Walken (79) and Léa Seydoux (37) are new.
In addition, Zendaya (26), Javier Bardem (53), Rebecca Ferguson (39) and Josh Brolin (54) are returning. According to media reports, the shooting took place over a period of around six months in Budapest, Abu Dhabi and Jordan – among other locations.
According to Warner Bros., the sequel to “Dune” revolves around a “mythical journey” by Paul Atreides, who allies with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen on a quest for revenge. Nothing less than the fate of the universe lies in the hands of the Atreides scion, who wants to prevent a terrible future that only he can see.
