Queen Elizabeth II died in September 2022 at the age of 96. With her death, her eldest son Charles automatically became her successor. His ceremonial coronation will now take place on May 6th in London’s Westminster Abbey. The last time such a lavish ceremony took place was in June 1953, when Elizabeth II ascended the throne. 70 years later Charles III. put the crown on his head. He is the 40th monarch to be crowned at Westminster Abbey.
