Actually, one should carry out an experiment: One would have to play the album “The Lost Tapes” to a die-hard Oasis fan and see what he or she thinks of it. Is it really noticeable that these aren’t lost songs or even the long-awaited comeback of the Britrock band?
Because the album, which appeared on YouTube a few days ago, sounds deceptively real – but in reality it was produced by an artificial intelligence. The order for this was given by the British band Breezer, they call their project “Aisis”, based on the band name and the English expression “Artificial Intelligence” (AI) for artificial intelligence. The instruments and the lyrics come from Breezer, reports the “Guardian”. Liam Gallagher’s voice, on the other hand, was artificially generated.
“Our band sounded just like Oasis, so all I had to do was swap my vocals for Liam’s,” Breezer singer Bobby Geraghty told The Guardian, adding: “We were just bored with it waiting for an Oasis comeback. Liam and his brother [Noel Gallagher ed.] are just trying to outdo each other right now. But that’s not Oasis.” In 2009, Oasis, one of the most important and influential British bands, broke up after seven albums. Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher had fallen out.
Liam Gallagher was already enthusiastic about the project: “It’s better than all the other junk out there,” the former Oasis singer tweeted, adding: “I sound mega!” The AI-generated album lasts half an hour and contains eight songs. Oasis fans have been hoping for a comeback for many years, and there have always been hints in that direction, but the Gallagher brothers have not been able to pull themselves together so far. Both Liam and Noel Gallagher are busy with solo projects.
A supposed new song by Canadian superstars Drake and The Weeknd had previously caused a stir. The track “Heart On My Sleeve” sounds deceptively real, but it was also generated by an artificial intelligence.
