The holidays around Christmas and New Year demand a lot from us year after year. Not only psychologically, but also when it came to styling, many people stood in front of the mirror for hours. Time to give your skin, hair and nails a break. These beauty tips are exactly important at the beginning of the year.
Our skin suffers enormously in winter. The constant change between dry heated air and sub-zero temperatures causes dry skin and possibly itchy irritations. Moisture is then the be-all and end-all. You need a proper moisture booster, especially after the bath. Body lotion should be applied to the skin after every shower anyway. But a rich care oil is even better. It is best to apply this to the skin while it is still moist, this creates an oil-water emulsion and the skin absorbs the oil better. Another tip: Don’t just apply the oil, but gently massage it in, this stimulates blood circulation.
If you already suffer from extremely dry skin, you can also treat yourself to a peeling. You can also quickly mix a body scrub yourself, for example with coconut oil, a little lemon juice and sugar.
Constant blow-drying and styling over the holidays also took its toll on our hair. Caring for your scalp and ends is now definitely worth it. An anti-dandruff shampoo that moisturizes the dry scalp can help. But an additional scalp oil or serum is recommended if your skin is already itchy. Ingredients such as tea tree oil, allantoin, panthenol or urea have a calming and healing effect. Massage this in after washing your hair and ideally leave it on overnight.
For dry and brittle ends, a rich hair mask, a treatment or a hair tip fluid are suitable. Hyaluronic care serums are also popular at the moment. If you don’t have it at home, you can also use coconut oil. Olive oil, jojoba oil or almond oil also provide the hair lengths with plenty of moisture. In addition, it is recommended not to wash or style your hair for a few days.
Last but not least, nails and hands should not be missing. Take off the nail polish, trim your nails, file them and apply an oil. Our hands love Vaseline. You can buy them in every drugstore. Our tip: Apply the petroleum jelly thoroughly, put on gloves and leave it to work overnight. The earth and mineral oils are absorbed into dry skin and a protective film is formed. Incidentally, petroleum jelly is also ideal for dry lips or hair tips.
