Wearing a black and white checkered face paint, he passionately rooted for the team in the colors of the Los Angeles Kings in their match against the Edmonton Oilers. A matching hat and a jacket with the Kings lettering completed the fan look.
The special trailer did not go unnoticed by the NHL club in the audience. “Will brought his gameface too,” he tweeted, posting a picture of the star barely recognizable with the face paint. “Will loved the goal,” he later commented on a video posted to Twitter of Ferrell enthusiastically tapping on the pitchside glass. The celebrity support brought luck to the team: The Edmonton Oilers lost to the Los Angeles Kings in the third game of the first round of the playoffs with a 2:3 defeat. With that, the Californians have a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
