After the success of the first season, there will be new episodes of the prison series “Asbest”: ARD Degeto confirmed this Tuesday (March 14). With almost ten million hits, a program has never started more successfully online, explains editor-in-chief Christoph Pellander in a statement. “Asbest” started on January 20, 2023 in the ARD media library. The response from the audience was terrific and “Asbestos” reached viewers “who the ARD Mediathek didn’t even know before,” says Pellander. “This success confirms us to start with the creatives in the development of the second season.”
In the second season, Kida Khodr Ramadan (46) will once again be working together, who will be directing again, among other things. The actor also took on a role in season one. Xidir Koder Alian will return to the camera as Momo and Lulu Hacke as his girlfriend Daniela. Author Juri Sternburg will also be there again. The new season is being produced by Pantaleon Films on behalf of ARD Degeto for ARD.
The idea for the initially five-part gangster series came from Katja Eichinger. 19-year-old Momo Kaval (German rapper Xidir aka Koder Alian made his acting debut in season one) dreams of a career as a footballer. After a robbery he was involved in with his criminal cousins, he is the only one arrested. He claims to be innocent and is still sentenced to nine years in prison. He dives into a world of clan crime, turf wars and corruption. The cast also included Frederick Lau (33), Jasmin Tabatabai (55), David Kross (32) and Wotan Wilke Möhring (55).
