After a week’s stay, the former Belgian King Albert II is due to leave the hospital tomorrow. “He’s doing better,” a spokesman for the palace in Brussels told the German Press Agency on Tuesday evening.
The 89-year-old was admitted to the hospital as a precaution last Tuesday after signs of dehydration, but was reportedly responsive. Actually, the ex-king should have been released after the weekend. Albert sat on the Belgian throne for 20 years but resigned in 2013 for health reasons. Since then, his eldest son Philippe has been at the head of the state.
