The German actress Leonie Benesch (31) is one of the ten European “Shooting Stars” who will be honored at the next Berlinale (February 16-26, 2023). The jury was impressed by Benesch’s portrayal of an idealistic teacher in the film “The Teacher’s Room” by director Ilker Catak. “She shows a noblesse and sincerity of character that transcends school life and leaves the audience guessing what will happen next,” it said. At the age of 18, Benesch had already acted in Michael Haneke’s award-winning film “The White Ribbon”. In 2018 she received the German Acting Award for her role as Greta in the series “Babylon Berlin”.
